Two Nebraska 4-H Camps Receive Accreditation

GRETNA, Neb. — The Eastern Nebraska 4-H Center in Gretna and Nebraska State 4-H Camp in Halsey have been accredited by the American Camping Association.

"By being ACA-accredited, Eastern Nebraska 4-H Center and Nebraska State 4-H Camp demonstrate that they care about their campers and comply with the highest quality standards designed specifically for camps," said Pat Hammond, director of ACA's standards program.

"ACA accreditation is very important to our camp," said Kelly Krambeck, Eastern Nebraska 4-H Center camp director. "Although the program is voluntary, we owe it to our campers and parents to have the best operation possible."

The ACA is the only independent accrediting organization reviewing camp operations in the country. Its standards focus on the program quality, health and safety aspects of a camp's operation. Only 25 percent of day and resident camps across the country are accredited by the ACA.

Both Eastern Nebraska 4-H Center and Nebraska State 4-H Camp operate year round with heated cabins, food service and a lodge area ideal for large or small group settings. About 2,300 youth attended the two camps last summer.
