NU's Climate and Drought Expertise Featured on the next ''Market Journal''
LINCOLN, Neb. — The University of Nebraska's "Market Journal" April 11 will feature a number of NU climate and weather resources, including the High Plains Regional Climate Center.
"Market Journal" will air from 8-9 p.m. on the Web, at "Market Journal"; via satellite, viewable at 20 NU Cooperative Extension sites in the state; and, in the Lincoln area, on Time-Warner Cable channel 21.
Ken Hubbard, director of the HPRCC, will discuss how ag producers who know how to access and use climatic data can reduce weather-related risk. Accurate forecasts help producers decide which hybrids to plant, how much and when to irrigate, and when and where to market their crops. The HPRCC collects and interprets climate and offers information about how to use the data to reduce risk.
"Market Journal" also will feature a look inside the National Drought Mitigation Center, which is based at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The center helps ag producers and government officials develop and implement plans to lessen the impact of drought.
"Market Journal," hosted by NU farm management specialist Doug Jose, airs twice a month, with all programs archived at the program's Web site.
"Market Journal" is a production of NU Cooperative Extension and the UNL Department of Agricultural Economics.
