Livestock-related Drought Issues Topic of Aug. 22 "Market Journal"
LINCOLN, Neb. — The University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension's "Market Journal" program Aug. 22 will focus on livestock-related drought issues.
Topics to be discussed include tax liability following liquidation, feed availability and feed resources and potential changes in post-2002 grazing plans.
Guests scheduled to appear include Dick Clark, farm management specialist; Don Adams, beef specialist; and Jerry Volesky, range specialist. Clark, Adams and Volesky are from NU's West Central Research and Extension Center in North Platte.
Also on program, Mike Briggs, Seward cattle producer, will assess beef market conditions from the producer's point of view; Al Prosch, NU Pork Central Director, will analyze of pork market trends; Al Dutcher, state climatologist, will review the most recent Drought Monitor and provide an ag weather forecast; and Roy Frederick, NU policy specialist, will discuss current issues in ag policy.
"Market Journal" will be available on the World Wide Web Aug. 22 after 8 p.m. Central Time
(7 p.m. Mountain Time) at "Market Journal". To view the program, follow links to either audio/video or audio-only streaming media. All programs are archived for later viewing online.
"Market Journal" will also be available via satellite the following morning, Aug. 23, at county extension offices from 9-10 a.m. (8-9 a.m. Mountain Time.)
