Small Food Manufacturers Conference April 2-3 in Omaha

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Food Processing Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will host the fourth annual National Small Food Manufacturers Conference April 2-3 in Omaha.

The Nebraska Manufacturing Extension Partnership is a strategic partner and co-sponsor of this conference. Participants from throughout the United States will learn more about issues and challenges facing small food manufacturing businesses.

"This annual conference attracts small business owners from all over the United States. As in previous years, we have created an agenda of topics critical to the food industry," said Rolando Flores, director of the Food Processing Center.

"The conference will address key issues and business strategies to help small food businesses grow and succeed in the market place. Industry experts from throughout the country have been selected to present this information in a dynamic and informative venue. Food Processing Center consultants will be available throughout the conference to provide guidance and expertise to food businesses. In these hard times, attending this conference is money well spent toward the success of their business," Flores added.

Many nationally recognized speakers will present to conference attendees, including Todd Hale, senior vice president of Nielsen, an international market research firm. His presentation will focus on the current economy and how consumers are adjusting their buying habits. Brian Wagner, vice president of packaging and technology for Integrated Solutions, will explore how to create food packaging that gets noticed and packaging trends of the future. These are just two of the many expert presenters scheduled to speak at the conference.

The Food Processing Center is nationally recognized for its support of the food industry since 1983. The center has provided technical and business assistance to hundreds of food entrepreneurs and manufacturers throughout the country and in many foreign countries. This in-depth knowledge and assistance to the industry has allowed them to develop a conference specifically targeted to the issues small food manufacturers encounter every day. By attending, participants will learn from nationally known speakers, participate in interactive sessions, explore new opportunities, network with peers and industry experts and come away motivated and inspired to grow their business.
