Lincoln, Neb. —Students, faculty, staff and friends and supporters of the University of Nebraska are invited to the third annual “I Love NU” Day on Tuesday, March 10, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Nebraska State Capitol.

The event is an opportunity for individuals to show support for the university and visit with state senators about the work and impact of NU’s campuses. All members of the public are welcome.

The day will begin with welcoming remarks from university leadership, including President Ted Carter, in Hearing Room 1525 on the first floor of the Capitol. Attendees will then gather in the legislative chamber balcony to be recognized by the Legislature, and then will have time to speak with senators in the Rotunda, engage with other university supporters or listen to legislative debate.

New this year will be a “University Unity” ice cream flavor created by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Dairy Store. The ice cream will be sold outside the Capitol on the day of the event.

A complete schedule is available on the “I Love NU” Day Facebook page. Those who plan to attend may RSVP here.

Faculty and staff who attend the event during regular work hours should use vacation or banked/floating holiday time and must receive approval for time off from a supervisor.

Besides attending “I Love NU” Day, faculty, staff and students can show support for the university by:

  • Signing up to be an NU Advocate to be among the first to know about legislative developments that impact the university and learn about how and when to get engaged; and
  • Following the University of Nebraska on Facebook and Twitter for news and updates and using the #NUforNE hashtag when sharing stories of the university’s impact on social media.
