What is your life like today?

I am currently employed at Gothenburg State Bank as an ag/commercial loan officer. I enjoy, and take pride in serving the local businesses/ag producers in providing financial assistance to make them successful. I enjoy the small town Nebraska rural living, as well as being a part of a prosperous community. In my free time I have a passion for attending Husker athletics’ events, weekend hunting adventures with friends, working on my family’s farm/ranch and spending quality time with friends/family.

What brought you to UNL?

I would have to say two things in particular made me attend UNL. The first thing would be CASNR. All through high school I was exposed to East Campus with FFA activities and ties to agriculture. In the state of Nebraska there is no better agricultural college than UNL. The minute I stepped foot on East Campus my freshman year I knew it was the best decision I had ever madebetween the dedicated faculty and staff, and the welcoming/rural culture of East Campus, my college experience as a CASNR student was second to none. My second reason to attend UNL was truly to be a Husker, and once I graduated to be a Husker alum forever. Growing up in Nebraska made me very partial to the State’s only land-grant university, and all the opportunities it has to offer made it an easy decision.

What is your favorite memory as a CASNR student?

I would say I don’t have one favorite memory but many great memories of campus involvement that have truly had a big part in shaping who I am today. I won’t ever regret my time spent being part of numerous campus organizations, and the connections I built are priceless.

How did your experience in CASNR shape your career path?

I was an agribusiness major with an emphasis in ag banking and finance. The ag banking and finance program truly laid the foundation for my career today. The courses I completed at UNL and my internship for the program during the summer after my junior year were pivotal in reaching the first steps in my career goals. The opportunities CASNR provided in campus involvement was another source that shaped my career path.

What advice do you have for CASNR students interested in your career field?

My advice would be to get involved in campus organizations and take on leadership roles in those respective clubs. The connections and relationships you build will definitely reward you in your future career path. All careers are made of leaders and what better way than to assume leaderships roles in college to prepare you for life after college. College at times seems like it’s never going to end but from experience it flies by… so get involved early on and that will only make your college that much better.
