LINCOLN, Neb. — Young leaders from across the state will gather in Kearney Nov. 7 for the 2014 Connecting Young Nebraska's Summit.

The event is hosted by a team of young leaders from the tri-city region and coordinated by Kayla Schnuelle of the Rural Futures Institute.

The summit will begin Nov. 6 with an evening social at Cunningham's Journal and will feature comedian James Johann.

The full-day summit will be Friday, Nov. 7, and will feature keynote speaker Joe Gerstandt, a variety of breakout sessions, professional development opportunities and several discussions about how to make the state an even better place for young people to live and work.

"Young leaders from the tri-cities are excited to join forces to offer the state a dynamic summit, centered on professional and personal development," says Mary Berlie of Grand Island, a member of the summit planning team.

The CYN Summit is the annual gathering for the Connecting Young Nebraskans network, which is sponsored by the Rural Futures Institute at the University of Nebraska and many local and state-wide businesses.

Connecting Young Nebraskans is designed to connect, empower and retain young Nebraskans. CYN strives to enhance opportunities for individuals to impact their communities through networking and learning experiences.

Registration is available at ruralfutures.nebraska.edu/cyn-summit.
