Cornhusker Rodeo Challenge is Oct. 17

Lincoln, Neb. — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Rodeo team invites alumni and high school juniors and seniors to compete against current rodeo team members in the Cornhusker Rodeo Challenge and the Clay Real Memorial Iron Cowboy/Cowgirl Challenge. The event will begin at 8 a.m. on Oct.17 at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln.

Competitions include tie-down roping, team roping, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, barrel racing and goat tying. Individuals do not need to be associated with UNL to participate in the Iron Cowboy/Cowgirl Challenge but he or she must enter two events. Cash, buckles and breast collars will be awarded to winners. Later that evening, 2014-15 UNL Rodeo Team Members will be recognized during a banquet held at The Single Barrel in Lincoln. Three time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo Barrel Racing qualifier Christy Loflin will speak during the banquet. Following the banquet, Tim Zach and The Whiskey Bent Band will play. The banquet begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $30, which includes dinner and live music.
