Lincoln, Neb. — Pest Control Technology Magazine and Syngenta Professional Products have named Shripat Kamble, professor of entomology at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, to the Crown Leadership Awards Class of 2016.

Now in it’s 28th year, the Crown Leadership Awards annually honors pest management professionals, university educators and other industry professionals who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of the pest control industry, as well as to their universities, companies and local communities. Honorees are nominated by their peers and selected after a thorough assessment of their personal and professional accomplishments.

“I am humbled by the honor bestowed upon me by the pest management industry,” said Kamble.

Kamble’s entomology research focuses on molecular characterization of ants, termites and cockroaches; novel biochemical/toxicological pest management strategies for household pests; biochemical/molecular basis for insecticide resistance in German cockroaches; toxicology and environmental fate of insecticides used for termite control; and human exposure to pesticides. Kamble has advised 11 Ph.D. students, eight master’s students, and five post-doctoral researchers. He has received over $3.72 million in grant funding and published over 150 research and extension publications. He has organized and moderated 49 symposia at regional, national and international conferences.

Kamble will be featured in the annual Pest Control Technology Crown Leadership Award issue in October. In addition, he will be recognized during the National Pest Management Association’s PestWorld conference to be held next month in Seattle, Washington.
