Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory to Host 14th Annual Open House

LINCOLN, Neb. — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory in Whitman, Neb. will host its 14th annual open house, Aug. 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Mountain Time.

Presentations will be given throughout the day on various aspects of cattle and natural resource management. Businesses, services and associations supporting the beef cattle industry will participate.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by a welcome from Don Adams, director of UNL's West Central Research and Extension Center.

Throughout the morning, speakers will discuss cattle markets, drought and rangelands and grazing systems research.

NU vice president and IANR Harlan vice chancellor Ronnie Green will speak, as well as U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns, followed by a noon lunch.

After lunch, topics will include a producer panel discussing their response to drought and updates on nutrition research, beef systems research and cow size.
