About Michael Cooley: Born in Morrill, Nebraska, which is on the Wyoming border, I went to UNK and graduated in 2014. I will graduate this spring with my master’s degree in student affairs.
What is your position at the University of Nebraska? I am the recruitment coordinator within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
What drew you to the University of Nebraska? The prestige it has as a university as well as a workplace, and the opportunities it provides as a career in higher education.
What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most? The opportunity and ability to help positively affect someone’s life by assisting in the college selection process. I enjoy helping them find the fit where they will make some of the best memories of their life.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? Being a first generation college student, graduating was a pretty big accomplishment, but being the first person in my family history to have an advanced degree will definitely be a great achievement to me.
What is something that most people don't know about you? Before deciding on attending school (mostly because of athletics), I deeply considered acting school in New York.
What is your life like outside of work? I love sports, so I spend a lot of time either watching or playing them. I also enjoy spending and sharing time with others, so I am often hanging out with friends or spending time with family and loved ones. I am rarely by myself!
