What is your position at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I am the Research Facility Coordinator at the UNL West Central Research, Extension and Education Center in North Platte, Nebraska.

What drew you to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

After many years in a corporate job as an agronomist in Nebraska, I was contemplating an early retirement when the local UNL Research Station contacted me to work alongside researchers and students. In this position, I would help to fill a few gaps as new folks were being hired and sharing my experience and contacts from previous years. I have found the work challenging and rewarding in the short time I have been here.

What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy the interaction with graduate students, many of them from outside of the United States. Their enthusiasm in being here and their willingness to share their culture is very refreshing after 35 years in the corporate world.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

I have two adult children, both with families of their own and who are employed in jobs they enjoy.

What is something that most people don't know about you?

I have been a philatelist, or stamp collector, for over 50 years.

What is your life like outside of work?

I have been married to my best friend for over 40 years. We enjoy time with family and our kids and grandkids. I enjoy collecting, reading, and watching NCAA football and basketball. During the summers, we spend a lot of time in our yard and garden and hope to do more fishing in the future.
