About Taylor Hart:
I grew up in Bassett, Nebraska, and my parents own a small cow calf operation where we raise registered Charolais. I was involved in 4-H and FFA throughout high school, and I originally came to UNL in 2012 as a dietetics major. I had always known UNL had a great agricultural college, but growing up involved in agriculture my entire life I wanted to try something new. After a year in CEHS, I learned that biology, chemistry, and anatomy and physiology weren’t my strong suit. I took a few ALEC classes and changed my major the fall of my sophomore year to agricultural education-leadership.  I loved the relationship aspect of this degree program and how I could influence others with concepts I learned in class. I graduated from UNL in May of 2016.

What is your position at UNL?
I am the recruitment associate for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. I travel the state of Nebraska visiting high schools to share about the degree programs CASNR offers and career opportunities after graduation. I am also the face behind CASNR’s social media outlets.

What drew you to UNL?
On my visit to UNL, I loved the atmosphere while on campus. UNL has such a rich history in academics, sports and campus life that I immediately knew this is where I needed to be. I wanted to be a part of something so much bigger than just a college or university and that’s what I got being part of the Husker culture.

What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most?
The reinvestment aspect is why I chose to work in higher education. When I was a student in CASNR, the faculty and staff provided me with a home away from home, but also opportunities to grow on my own and develop my own sense of understanding. I want to provide those same experiences to future and current students and allow them to understand who they are and their purpose. College is an exciting period in a person’s life and being a part of it is such a rewarding experience.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I don’t know if it’s so much of my achievement, but others' achievements that I played a small role in. I love to see people, especially students, excited about a certain degree program and then see them excel in areas that they are passionate about. Knowing that I somehow helped students find their way to that point in their life fills me with gratitude.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?
When I was in the first grade I wanted to become the first female president of the United States, and my first law would be that no one had to go to work on their birthday. This led me to read countless books about each president and now my head is filled with trivia about past presidents.

What is your life like outside of work?
I spend a lot of time reading, especially books about certain periods of time in American history and mysteries, running, cooking and listening to live music.
