Why did you decide to come to UNL?
What drew my attention most to UNL was its agriculture program. In addition, I wanted to be a part of the devoted and passionate Husker family.

What is your favorite thing about UNL?
My favorite thing about UNL is getting to share my passion for the agriculture industry with so many other students. I love being a part of the small community on East Campus, as it is a place where we all come together and advocate for agriculture. In addition, I appreciate the professors at UNL. Over the last three years of my undergraduate career I have learned that each of them truly cares about the success of their students; this in itself is what sets UNL apart from other universities.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?
My favorite class taken so far is Farm and Ranch Management 201 taught by Dr. Hanson. Throughout the course of the class, we focused on understanding concepts that are involved in the decision-making process of operating a farm or ranch. This ranged from production economics, financial budgets and analysis,  to crop and livestock enterprise analysis. I have been able to take the lessons learned from this course and apply them to the real world; in fact, these lessons assisted me in starting my own livestock operation.

What are your plans post-graduation?
Upon the completion of my undergraduate career, I plan to attend law school and specialize in corporate or water law.

What's life like outside of school?
During the school year I am an intern for Bruning Law Group in Lincoln and I am also a member of the UNL Livestock Judging team. So when I am not at the law firm or in classes, I am usually traveling to different livestock operations or participating in contests across the United States. During the summers I spend my time interning for different agriculture companies in order to learn more about the industry. In the past I have interned with Cargill and Monsanto; however, this summer I will be an International Relations intern for the Nebraska Corn Board and the U.S. Grains Council in Panama City, Panama.
