Why did you decide to come to UNL?

I decided to come to UNL because I wanted to stay in the Midwest and I was looking for a school that had entrepreneurship classes. Of the colleges I looked at, UNL was the only one that had a Horticulture program with an emphasis in entrepreneurship. I also felt like East Campus reminded me of my hometown.

What is your favorite thing about UNL?
My favorite thing about UNL is the community. Coming from out-of-state and not knowing anyone made moving to Nebraska a big change. It was amazing that everyone was so nice. I made friends fast so the initial transition for me was much easier. I also appreciate how on City Campus you can always have new interactions but on East Campus it’s a smaller community where everyone knows everyone. It’s the best of both worlds.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

My favorite class thus far has probably been Kim Todd’s Plant ID class. Kim is one of my favorite professors. I also really enjoyed Introduction to Beekeeping.

What are your plans post-graduation?
After I graduate in December I will be working at Walt Disney World caring for edible landscapes at the Golden Oak Resort.

What’s life like outside of school?
Life outside of school is busy. This spring and summer I have been interning at The Land at Epcot at the Walt Disney World Company. Besides being at class, on a normal day I am a teacher assistant for the Floral Design I class, and I also work in the dean’s office in recruitment for CASNR. I’m also involved in the Engler Agribusiness Club, Horticulture Club, and Phi Mu Sorority. My hobbies include sewing and crocheting.
