Lincoln, Neb. —Applications are now being accepted for an NU system-wide Science Slam event, which will be live-streamed to a global audience on June 22. Sponsored by a grant from the University of Nebraska Collaboration Initiative, this interdisciplinary event aims to bring together researchers of all levels who are engaged in any aspect of infectious disease research.

The event builds on the success of other Slam events on campus, where researchers are challenged to communicate their work across the divides of discipline, expertise and skill level through short, engaging presentations.

Participation in the Science Slam is open to faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers engaged in any aspect of infectious disease research at UNL, UNO, UNK, or UNMC. Presenter applications are being accepted through June 16 via Flip: https://flip.com/8a90e7d3.

Applicants are invited to respond to the prompt: What do you think is the most important lesson of the COVID-19 pandemic for infectious disease researchers, and how has this informed your work?

Five finalists will be selected to present at the Science Slam, which will be livestreamed on YouTube Thursday, June 22, at 7:00pm CT. The audience will vote for a winner, who will receive a $300 prize; the other finalists will each receive $100.

Please contact Georgina Bingham (gbingham@unl.edu) with any questions about the event.
