The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s East Campus Discovery Days and Farmers Market will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 14, July 12 and Aug. 9.

“Discovery Days has grown every year, and we keep adding new things and trying to make it more relevant and exciting for people to come,” said Jordan Slagle, this year’s primary event planner.

Slagle said her main goal is to continue to promote community involvement.

Discovery Days will once again feature a robust farmers market, live music, food trucks, the Botanical Garden and Arboretum, and Backyard Farmer Garden. The UNL Rodeo Club is also set to make an appearance Aug. 9.

Over the past few years, Discovery Days has expanded beyond the traditional farmers market to include exhibits from local science clubs and Nebraska 4-H, robotics, and arts and crafts, Slagle said.

“I want it to be more like a melting pot of a bunch of different things,” she said.

The input of university faculty, staff and students has helped the event succeed, Slagle said.

“They do a lot of heavy lifting in terms of the event, and they get people excited and include the education aspect,” she said.

The East Campus Discovery Days and Farmers Market thrives on volunteer work from the Lincoln community, Slagle said.

“We want everyone to be involved in every facet,” she said.
