Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and what drew you to the Krutsinger Beef Industry Scholars Program?

I decided to come to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln because of its strong Animal Science program and the many opportunities it offers for hands-on learning and industry connections. UNL has an outstanding reputation for preparing students to succeed in agriculture, and I knew it would be a great place to grow both academically and professionally. I was also drawn to the Krutsinger Beef Industry Scholars Program because it allows me to learn more about the beef industry while building meaningful connections with others who share the same passion. Seeing the strong network of alumni made me excited to be part of those same opportunities.

What has been your favorite experience in the Beef Scholars program so far?

One of my favorite experiences was our tour to Colorado. We got to see many different parts of the beef industry, which gave me a better understanding of how all the sectors work together.

How has the Beef Scholars program helped you prepare for a career in the beef industry?

The program has given me valuable connections, hands-on experiences, and insight into different career paths within the industry. It’s helped me feel more confident and prepared as I take steps toward my future career.

What has been your favorite class or learning opportunity connected to beef, and why?

The Beef Industry Studies Tour allowed me to see so many different sides of the industry. It was exciting to see how each sector contributes to the overall beef supply chain.

Can you share a memorable activity, trip, or connection from Beef Scholars (e.g., tours, industry visits, networking)?

One of the most memorable experiences from Beef Scholars was our trip to Greeley, Colorado. We got to see many parts of the beef industry and hear advice from people who truly love what they do. It reminded me how important it is to work hard, stay positive, and find a career you’re passionate about.

What are your plans post-graduation, and how do you see the Beef Scholars program playing a role in your future?

I plan to work in the beef industry after graduation. The connections, experiences, and knowledge I’ve gained through Beef Scholars will continue to guide me as I begin my career.

Outside of school and Beef Scholars, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with friends, working with livestock, and helping out on the farm. Those experiences remind me why I’m passionate about agriculture and the beef industry.
