Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and what drew you to the Krutsinger Beef Industry Scholars Program?
Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to be a Cornhusker. When I began exploring colleges, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln was always my top choice, especially after I decided to pursue a degree in agriculture. I became very interested in the Krutsinger Beef Scholars Program because there’s nothing else like it. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn, understand, and engage directly with industry professionals by asking meaningful questions about real-world issues in the beef industry.
What has been your favorite experience in the Beef Scholars program so far?
My favorite experience has been the industry tours. I enjoyed meeting leaders in the beef industry and engaging in genuine conversations with them about the challenges and opportunities within the field.
How has the Beef Scholars program helped you prepare for a career in the beef industry?
The program has opened doors for post-graduation opportunities and encouraged me to explore career paths within the beef industry that I may not have considered otherwise.
What has been your favorite class or learning opportunity connected to beef, and why?
The industry tours stand out the most. They allowed me to see so many different sectors of the beef industry and learn directly from the trendsetters and leaders shaping it. That experience gave me a well-rounded understanding of how all sectors work together and strengthened my passion for the industry.
Can you share a memorable activity, trip, or connection from Beef Scholars?
One of the most memorable experiences for me was touring a packing plant. I had never been inside one before, and seeing the operations firsthand was both eye-opening and one of the most impactful experiences I’ve had in the program.

What are your plans post-graduation, and how do you see the Beef Scholars program playing a role in your future?
After graduation, I plan to either pursue graduate school in ruminant nutrition or enter the workforce directly to help beef producers maximize profitability and efficiency. The Beef Scholars Program has played a significant role in this decision, as it has provided me with a broader understanding of the beef industry and ignited my passion to serve it.
Outside of school and Beef Scholars, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
When I’m not in school, I enjoy being outdoors, whether traveling, working with cattle, or exploring new places. I also love being creative by working with flowers or baking new recipes. Most importantly, I value spending time with my family and friends, as well as growing in my faith.
