Search begins for next chief communications and marketing officer

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has launched a national search for its next chief communications and marketing officer.

Jordan Gonzales, chief of staff in the Office of the Chancellor, is leading the search.

The chief communications and marketing officer is a member of the university’s Executive Leadership Team and currently reports to the vice chancellor for external relations. The position provides strategic vision, leadership and counsel to advance the university’s reputation, mission and priorities. It plays a central role in shaping and aligning messaging across the university.

University Communication and Marketing serves as the university’s central public voice and leads communication and marketing efforts that support institutional goals. The unit also advises campus leaders and units on communications, marketing and reputation.

Jeff Sheldon, associate executive director of marketing and business relations with the Nebraska Alumni Association, is currently serving as interim executive director of university communications and marketing. 

The position was posted April 16. Review of applications will begin May 18, and the search will remain open until the position is filled.

Applicants must submit a letter of interest, a resume or curriculum vitae and a list of three references.
