Lincoln, Neb. —Bee-bearded foes Courtney Wallner (left) and Earl Agpawa face off in a mock battle on May 11. The scene was part of Judy Wu-Smart's UNL Bee Lab taking an afternoon off to have fun and create bee beards. The event included props and a pirate theme.
Wallner is also the May 2021 grad who attended undergraduate commencement on May 7 wearing a mortar board declaring she was a, "Straight bee student." The design (pictured below) featured a wire cage, with real bees buzzing about inside and fake bees on the outside. Wallner earned her degree as a pre-veterinary science and insect science major.
