Lincoln, Neb. — The 25th annual fall seminar series offered by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Center for Grassland Studies will include 11 presentations on topics related to wildfire in the Great Plains, the history of grassland science at Nebraska, and ecology, groundwater, and biodiversity of the Nebraska Sandhills, and a 25-year review of the Center for Grassland Studies.
The seminars take place on Mondays during the fall semester from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Nebraska East Union. The first lecture is Sept. 9 and the last is Dec. 9, with no seminars on Sept. 23, Oct. 21, Nov. 25 or Dec. 2. The seminars are free and open to the public.
The series features Martin Massengale, this year's Frank and Margaret Leu Distinguished Lecturer. Massengale is president and chancellor emeritus and founding director of the Center for Grassland Studies and Foundation Distinguished Professor. He is a highly accomplished scholar, researcher, administrator and has received numerous awards and recognitions for his work. The Leu Lecture is co-hosted by Gamma Sigma Delta.
