Clyde NaborClyde Naber, research manager for the Department of Animal Science at UNL, will receive IANR’s 2014 Third Quarter Outstanding Employee Award for managerial professionals.

Naber’s organizational abilities, positive attitude and willingness to adjust to the unexpected are exceptional skills that help serve the needs of 10-12 faculty each semester, wrote a supporter. His hallmark dedication and loyalty mean he frequently stays late or comes in on weekends to assist with events. In his 27 years with the department Naber has taken “great pride in making sure the animals and facilities are presented to the public in a manner that reflects positively on the university.”

Facilities management is another area where Naber excels; the animal science complex houses people, horses, cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and laboratory animals, feed storage and mixing equipment, and waste handling facilities. Each component of the physical plant must function properly to meet the individual needs of each of these species. Naber, the nominator wrote, is extremely skilled in understanding how the different systems are interconnected and is often able to diagnose a problem before a technician arrives.

Naber will receive a cash award, a certificate and lapel pin.
