Lincoln, Neb. —This spring, construction will begin on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s East Campus to renovate the greenspace – known as the Meadow -- between the Nebraska East Union, Massengale Residential Center, Dinsdale Family Learning Commons and the UNL Dairy Store.
Plans for the renovated greenspace include the addition of outdoor seating and performance areas, terraced landscaping and improvement of walkways to bring them into ADA compliance.
The goal is the make the space more inviting, usable and people-friendly, and to better connect the high-traffic areas around these four buildings.
The statues of four former U.S. agriculture secretaries situated around East Campus have been removed and placed in storage in advance of the construction. They will be returned to campus, and exact locations will be determined later in the construction process.
The project is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
