Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communications (AESC) major Emily Eilers produced season two of her agricultural advocacy podcast “Agvocacy with Emily” as part of a portfolio-building project in ALEC: 481.

Lincoln, Neb. — Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communications (AESC) major Emily Eilers produced season two of her agricultural advocacy podcast “Agvocacy with Emily” as part of a portfolio-building project in ALEC: 481.

This season focuses on highlighting the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and its role in supporting agriculture. The first season was produced by Eilers as part of her internship at KTCH/KCTY in Wayne and featured local agriculturalists' roles in advocating for agriculture.

“I wanted to continue this podcast because it is an impactful way for people to casually learn about agriculture while going about their day,” Eilers said. “It’s easy to work on something else and have a podcast playing in the background compared to finding the time to sit and focus on reading an article.”

The first episode is a discussion with AESC professor Laura Young about the role of agricultural communications in the agriculture industry as well as agricultural advocacy and literacy. https://mediahub.unl.edu/media/22507

The next episode is a discussion with Extension Policy Specialist Brad Lubben about the importance of agricultural policy with the primary example being the Farm Bill. https://mediahub.unl.edu/media/22508

The third episode is a discussion with the college relations director for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) Sue Ellen Pegg about how CASNR offers opportunities for all students in all areas of agriculture. https://mediahub.unl.edu/media/22509

The final episode is a discussion with CASNR Change Maker leadership team members Julie Obermeyer and Megan Rothenburger about how Change Makers innovate the future of agriculture. https://mediahub.unl.edu/media/22510

Eilers hopes to produce more seasons of “Agvocacy with Emily” in the future.
