What is your position at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?
I am the Integrated Weed Management Specialist located in Scottsbluff, Neb. I help improve weed control in rangeland, and in the crops that are found more commonly in western Nebraska: potato, dry bean, sunflower, alfalfa, sugar beet and a few others.
What drew you to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?
I was, and am, excited about working with farmers and other stakeholders daily.
What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most?
I find mentoring graduate students and undergraduate interns to be extremely rewarding.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I don’t know if I have a single greatest achievement. But what I enjoy most about my position is being able to help a stakeholder solve a problem, where my experience and expertise makes a difference to them.
What is something that most people don't know about you?
I have two cats named Simazine and Atrazine.
What is your life like outside of work?
My wife and I have four young kids and we live on a 20 acre “small holding” with bees, chickens, horses, sheep and cattle. My kids, maintaining my property and helping out at my church seem to take up all my free time.
