Lincoln, Neb. — Patricio Grassini, assistant professor in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln has been honored with the 2016 Early Career Professional Award from the American Society of Agronomy. The award recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to agronomy through education, national and international service, and research.
Grassini is internationally recognized as an authority on crop yield gaps and input-use efficiency. He has authored 30 peer-reviewed journal articles and seven book chapters, including two F.A.O technical reviews. Grassini provides leadership at the international, national, state and local levels, including the Global Yield Gap Atlas project.
Grassini is a Fellow of the Water for Food Institute and Center for Great Plains Studies, in addition to being active in the Crop Science Society of America and Soil Science Society of America. He has been a member of the American Society of Agronomy since 2007. In January 2016 he became a member of the Nebraska chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta.
“It’s a great honor to be recognized with this award from a prestigious society,” said Grassini. “What I have accomplished could not have been possible without my amazing students, so this award really recognizes the whole team.”
Grassini will be presented with the award at the American Society of Agronomy’s annual meeting Nov. 6-9 in Phoenix, Arizona.
