Lincoln, Neb. —Nebraska Extension is providing two in-field training opportunities, one focusing on soil health, the other on corn and soybean production. These training are scheduled on back to back days, Wednesday, August 28th and Thursday, August 29th at the Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension, and Education Center near Mead. These trainings will give participants a chance to learn about research-based recommendations for building soil health and managing corn and soybeans. In addition, participants can see a wide range of cover crops and a “growing season” all in one place with hands-on interaction and field demos.

Both trainings will be held at the University of Nebraska Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension & Education Center located at 1071 County Road G, Ithaca, Nebraska.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. both days. The Soil Health training will run from 9:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m., while the Corn and Soybean Clinic will run from 9:00 a.m. till 4:40 p.m.
The Soil Health Clinic topics include: Cover crop species selection, in-field soil health assessment, equipment demos, and prairie strips. 3 CCA credits have been applied for and are pending.
Corn and Soybean Clinic Topics include: Corn and Soybean Growth; Nutrient management: N, 4R’s; Insect Management; Weed Management; Irrigation; and Plant Pathology. 6.5 CCA credits have been applied for and are pending.

The Soil Health Clinic has no fee to attend thanks to support from USDA-TOPP and USDA-SARE funding. The Corn and Soybean Clinic registration fee is $50. Fees include training, lunch and reference materials.
