Lincoln, Neb. —The 2020 Nebraska Plant Science Symposium at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will be held March 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Nebraska Innovation Campus Conference Center.
The theme of this year’s symposium is “Advancing Frontiers in Plant Sciences: Challenges for Concepts to Applicability.” The annual symposium aims to enhance agricultural scientific literacy, stimulate collaboration and help build interest in plant breeding careers.
Graduate students from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, along with David Hyten, Haskins Professor in plant genetics and associate professor soybean genetics and genomics, will host this symposium.
Invited speakers include Paul Gepts, Distinguished Professor, University of California, Davis, Department of Plant Sciences; Rajiv Khosla, Professor, Colorado State University, College of Agricultural Sciences; and Kieth Boldman, Corteva Agriscience.
Attendees will also choose to attend two of the four workshop and tour options; Geneomic Selection, NUtech Venture; the Food Innovation Center Facility; or the High-Throughput Phenotyping Facility.
The Nebraska Plant Science Symposium is part of a biennial series that began in 2012. In 2015, the symposium became an annual event. It is affiliated with the Plant Sciences Symposia Series spanning multiple universities, facilitated by Corteva Agrisciences.
This one-day symposium is free, open to the public with a free catered lunch and and offered via webinar to the broader scientific community.
