Public invited to enjoy the Lincoln Airshow at Great Planes and Prairies event


UNL’s Center for Grassland Studies invites the public to watch the Lincoln Airshow at Nine-Mile Prairie Friday and Saturday. The event will also include guided hikes.

Lincoln, Neb. — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Center for Grassland Studies will host its Great Planes and Prairies events at Nine-Mile Prairie on Aug. 26 and 27 during the 2023 Lincoln Airshow.  

The public is invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. both days to enjoy the show. Additionally, naturalists will lead hikes through the prairie at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. each day. The event will also include a discussion about the historic Strategic Air Command nuclear bomb bunkers on the Lincoln Airport Authority’s land just north of Nine-Mile Prairie.    

Restrooms will be available. Those who attend are encouraged to bring water and snacks. Nine-Mile Prairie is located at 6201 West Fletcher Ave.
