What is your position at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I am a recruitment specialist for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. My main responsibilities are to help with campus visits and events at the East Campus Visitors Center or elsewhere, and I also take care of the CASNR social media pages.

What drew you to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

Honestly Sue Ellen Pegg, I interned for her this summer to complete my degree and then I had so much fun and fit in well that I applied for the full-time position. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming to me, even just being an intern. I really enjoy the people and the comfortable working environment over on East Campus and at UNL.

What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most?

I’ve always loved school, so working in an educational setting allows me to still be in that mindset and around students who are learning. It’s awesome to see students I’ve talked to a few months ago come to events and be so excited to come here and start their college journey, that’s definitely a rewarding experience.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Graduating from college and getting a job I really enjoy has been my greatest achievement so far. My dad always encouraged me to go to college and get a degree, and I was the first in our family to go to a four-year school. Not only that, but I found this position that really suits me and is just a great way to start my career. I use my degree everyday making social media posts and strategies, creating recruitment materials, communicating with families and groups, and working on all the other projects I do.

What is something that most people don't know about you?

Most people probably don’t know that one of my favorite summer hobbies, besides going to the pool, is just to sit outside in my lawn chair and cook in the heat. I’m always cold, so peak summer warmth is my favorite thing to sit in, absorb, and enjoy.

What is your life like outside of work?

Outside of work, I really value spending time with my friends and family. I love visiting my grandparents, and I always visit home when I can to spend time with my mom and dad. My brother just got engaged and bought a house, so I’ll be there to bug them too soon. I most enjoy having movie nights or game nights with friends, it’s hard to plan and line everyone’s schedules up, but it’s always worth the trouble to see them and catch up.
