What is your position at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I am  a research technologist at the Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory near Whitman, NE. I work in the area of grazing cattle nutrition.

What drew you to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

When I was in graduate school in North Dakota, I visited a friend that was doing an internship at GSL. I absolutely loved the ranch and the Sandhills. When this position became available, I jumped at the opportunity to work in beef cattle research in the Nebraska Sandhills.

What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most?

I love the fact that even after working here for 27 years, I am still learning new things. I enjoy working with the students that come here to conduct their research. It is fun to see them learn and mature as they advance through their programs.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

I haven’t achieved it just yet, but I am planning to complete my goal of running a marathon in all 50 states. I have 46 states completed right now and plan to finish in Maui in January 2024.

What is something that most people don't know about you?

I enjoy gardening and can more than 100 quarts of pickles and salsa every year.

What is your life like outside of work?

I enjoy running, gardening and traveling, but my favorite thing is spending time with my family.
