About Jennifer

I was born and raised in Lincoln, but had brief stints in Texas and New Mexico, always returning home. I have been married to my best friend, Jason, for 16 years. Our 12-year-old son, Nathan, ensures there is never a dull moment. We have an adorable beagle mix that we rescued six years ago. We couldn’t imagine our family without her!

What is your position at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I am the administrative associate for the Department of Animal Science. I support the department head as well as supervise the office associates in the department.

What drew you to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

When I started at the university, I was looking for a full-time job that matched my skills. Little did I know that I would still be working at UNL 22 years later. I have been in my position in the Department of Animal Science since 2012 and it has been my favorite thus far.

What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy working with the students the most! I love seeing their accomplishments, not only while at UNL but after they graduate. I love that we are all working toward a better future, whether in the faculty role, staff role, or as students.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

I would have to say my family is my greatest achievement. They are my favorite people and my favorite place to be is wherever they are.

What is something that most people don't know about you?

I absolutely love music. It is an important part of who I am and is the soundtrack to my life. I can listen to a song and pinpoint exactly what I was doing at that moment. I cannot wait until there are live shows again! I have missed being able to go to concerts.

What is your life like outside of work?

I love spending time with my family. I enjoy the outdoors (when it’s not super hot or super cold). I also love hunting for antiques and refinishing furniture.
