About Kristin:

I am originally from Kearney where I graduated from Kearney Catholic High School. I attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for both my bachelor’s degree in animal science as well as my master’s degree in reproductive physiology. I got married June 8, 2013, to my lovely husband, Matt, and we now have two kids, Emma (2) and Nora (8 months) as well as two German shorthair pointers, Cruz and Dezi. I enjoy cooking, crafting, going to the lake and spending time with family.

What is your position at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

I am a laboratory technologist for Dustin Yates in stress physiology in the Animal Science department.

What drew you to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

I came back to the University of Nebraska to get back to research as well as the university teaching environment.

What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy working with graduate students most. They come in with a drive to learn new things and I find great pleasure in teaching them laboratory skills. It is very rewarding seeing them succeed in the skills I have taught them and learning to think critically.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement is my two girls. They are my light and always put me in a good mood! I love seeing them grow and learn new things.

What is something that most people don't know about you?

I am a tennis player and golfer and went to state in both in high school. Finding time to do both now is a little hard.

What is your life like outside of work?

My girls keep me very busy! As they get older we are busy playing outside, working in our garden and helping daddy at his work.  My husband and I own a hunting operation just southeast of Lincoln so as a family we stay busy raising birds, keeping up with bookkeeping, as well as lodge and ground upkeep.
