About Sarah Hansen:
I am married with two kids, two cats and one dog and have worked at the university for 11 years.
What is your position at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?
I am a financial specialist in the AEM Business Center (located in Entomology). I assist faculty with grant proposals and manage post-award expenditures.
What drew you to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?
I am a UNL alumna and my husband works at the UNL Outdoor Adventure Center. Pursuing a career at UNL just made sense.
What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy supporting faculty, staff and students with their innovative research and dynamic programs. Thinking "outside the box" is a definite must.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Personally: being a mom (results to be determined).
Professionally: I was involved in a project that implemented the 2009 Wisconsin Indian Child Welfare Act into practice throughout the state. Attending the project closing state and tribal celebration in 2013 was a highlight of my professional career.
What is something that most people don't know about you?
I am a "retired" summer camp program director who loves to sing campfire songs after a long day of trail riding within this beautiful state.
What is your life like outside of work?
Very busy. When I am not running the kids around to various school activities and sports, I enjoy reading books, yoga and running or walking the dog (depending on the training season).
