Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

I chose Nebraska because I wanted a school that would not only provide me with a great education but also help nurture me as an athlete. When I came here on my official visit, I was amazed by the support system that was in place for student-athletes to ensure a great academic and athletic career. As a freshman, I did not know exactly what I wanted to study. I grew up on a ranch and my family fostered children so I knew I wanted to tie these interests together. Nebraska seemed like the perfect school which could cater to both my interests.

What is your favorite thing about the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

My favorite thing about UNL is the people I meet. I have been blessed to have amazing professors who have taught me vast amounts, not only about their class subject but also life. Nebraska was new to me but so was America and the people here at the university have helped make this adjustment not only easier but also enjoyable.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

My favorite class that I have taken so far was Mobile Video Production of Agricultural and Environmental Issues (ALEC 241). From a young age, I have always had a passion for photography and all things camera related. This class gave me the opportunity to practice these skills and actually create a video for the first time.

What are your plans post-graduation?

After graduation, I plan to attend graduate school. I am currently trying to decide what exactly is the best thing for me to study but I see myself in either visual communications or a form of video production. This summer I am lucky enough to be able to work alongside IANR Media as an intern. This opportunity is providing me with real-world experience to learn about the field and hone my skills. Being able to deal with agricultural and environmental issues as well as people while tying it all together with cameras seems like the ideal career.

What is life like outside of school?

Outside of school, I like to spend time with friends, talking to my family and playing with my dog Pablo. Travel is also a big passion of mine, so I try to fit in trips whenever I can. Whether it is a road trip or something overseas, I am always thinking of where I can explore next.
