Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

I enjoy my hometown community and staying in it was important to me. I have developed great relationships with Sue Ellen and Rosalee over the years and always felt at home on campus. East campus is beautiful, and I get to be surrounded by students and faculty passionate about agriculture.

What is your favorite thing about the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

Obviously, the Dairy Store is at the top of my list, but my favorite aspect is the culture of its students and faculty, especially on East campus.

How has diversity and inclusive excellence played a role in your CASNR experience?

I have been able to meet and interact with students from all over the world. Without CASNR, I wouldn’t have experienced the food traditions and cultural perspectives found around the globe. My CASNR experience has been positive and the diversity keeps me engaged with those around me.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

My two favorites are Engler 101 and Floral Design 261. Floral Design takes the cake as a favorite because I could have never imagined being in the class. Stacy is a fantastic instructor who makes me enjoy learning and creating. It is very fun to take home compositions each week for my family.

What are your plans post-graduation?

I intend on remaining in the state of Nebraska where I hope to hold a career in agriculture. My career goal is to promote consumer education through marketing and advocate for the industry and its future. In the far-off future, I am planning on returning to my childhood family farm and beginning my own business focused on agricultural properties.

What’s life like outside of school?

Outside of school, you’ll probably find me still working on school assignments. However, I enjoy traveling with my mom and exploring new places. I’m a firm believer that there is much value in seeing unknown places. From tending to my tulip garden to raising hens to water sports, I spend quite a bit of time outdoors, as well. I am very content completing home improvement projects and organizing everything in my wake. Life outside of school is all about my family, two toy poodles, a chocolate lab, and my best friend from Mullen, Neb.
