Hometown: Newton, Wisconsin

Major: Horticulture

Anticipated date of graduation: My anticipated graduation is May 2021, but I’m hoping to complete my degree by December 2020.

Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

I came to UNL because I fell in love with the big city with a small town feel and because I felt very at home here.

What is your favorite thing about the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

My favorite things about UNL are the Backyard Farmer garden and the Maxwell Arboretum. I really enjoy walking through the gardens to see the different plants as well as sitting at the nearby picnic tables to study or just relax.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

My favorite class that I’ve taken so far is HORT 133 - a plant science lab. It is my favorite so far because I got to learn about plants hands-on, and it opened my eyes to a lot of practical careers in horticulture.

What are your plans post-graduation?

My plans post-graduation are to work at a vineyard to gain experience so that I can hopefully own my own vineyard one day! I’ve also been considering grad school to pursue viticulture.

What's life like outside school?

My life outside of school involves a lot of reading, hanging out with friends and napping. I also particularly enjoy hiking, exercising and searching for the best apple fritter. I also spend my time participating in Horticulture Club so that I can gain planting and sales experience.
