Why did you decide to come to UNL?
I grew up in Lincoln and knew that UNL is a great school with the programs I wanted, excellent research and many opportunities. I was also offered a Regents Scholarship, which I couldn’t turn down.

What is your favorite thing about UNL?
I love all of the opportunities I have been given through UNL. I have had so many exciting experiences, and the UNL faculty have been extremely helpful and have gone out of their way to help me explore my interests, give me opportunities and prepare me for the future.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?
My overall favorite class would probably be ornithology taught during the summer at Cedar Point Biological Station. It was a very hands-on class, which is how I learn best, and was a blast being out in the field actually seeing and holding the birds.

What are your plans post-graduation?
After I graduate, I hope to attend graduate school in a similar area to what I am studying now. Hopefully I will be able to find some interesting research and continue to learn about what I am passionate about. I will probably go on to get a Ph.D. as well. I would love a career where I could combine all of my experiences and do environmental education, as well as field work and possibly research.

What’s life like outside of school?
Outside of school and UNL activities, I love to spend time with my family and friends. I especially love going on camping trips and traveling to different parks. I like to practice archery if I have free time, and recently took up bow hunting. I am also trying to explore different outdoor activities like backpacking and rock climbing.
