Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I chose CASNR because of Nebraska’s legacy in agriculture and due to the well-known animal science program to better my education and future. I am also following my family’s tradition in attending Nebraska after my parents and older siblings. I’m fortunate to be a 3rd generation Husker.

What is your favorite thing about the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

Joining Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity has been my favorite thing about the University of Nebraska. I also have a long family history of being part of AGR, and being part of the organization has helped me grow my connections through the agricultural industry.

What about diversity and inclusion is important to you when you think about your CASNR experience?

I’ve realized there is no better place than CASNR that brings people from all over the globe to work, learn and enjoy our college years together.

Exposure to cultural differences is a huge part of college. What activity have you recently participated in that is different from what you are used to in your culture? This could be something you read, listened to, watched, eaten or otherwise taken part in. What did you learn from this activity?

In one of my classes I volunteer at the local Salvation Army where I get to help people who do have cultural differences from me. For me it is a great way to learn and give back to our community and get a grasp of their culture and lifestyle that otherwise I wouldn’t experience.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

My favorite class so far has been ASCI 100: Fundamentals of Animal Biology and Industry, taught by professor Bryan Reiling. I enjoyed the class because of the hands-on learning and the way the class was organized and taught.

What are your plans post-graduation?

After graduation my plans are to return home to carry on my family’s 121-year-old cow-calf and horse operation in the Nebraska Sandhills as the 5th generation on the ranch.

What's life like outside of school?

Outside of school I enjoy Husker sporting events, riding and training horses, roping, water skiing, working on the ranch with my family and spending time with friends.
