Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

The University of Nebraska always felt like home for me growing up. There are also a lot of networks and opportunities that I developed in high school that I have been able to foster and grow while down here.

What is your favorite thing about the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

East campus is by far my favorite place. The people, atmosphere, and community are a small-town feel and I try to spend most of my time there.

What about diversity and inclusion is important to you when you think about your CASNR experience?

Diversity of thought between each and every person has always been something that I value. Inclusion welcomes everyone to the table and gives them a place equally with everyone else. I think those are essential to learning about how we can get along better.

Exposure to cultural differences is a huge part of college. What activity have you recently participated in that is different from what you are used to in your culture? This could be something you read, listened to, watched, eaten or otherwise taken part in. What did you learn from this activity?

The Nebraska Human Resource Institute, also known as NHRI, has been an impactful program for me to be a part of. I am currently paired with Franky, a 7th grader here in Lincoln. We meet once a week to discuss our personal lives and how we can make an impact on those around us. I have been able to see what a mentor/mentee relationship looks like, and it also allows me to take these skills into other aspects of my own life to impact others.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

I have really enjoyed my animal science classes as well as EAEP 101. The animal science classes have been a ton of fun with Dr. Reiling learning about the basics of animal science and management. EAEP 101 is a great course to get younger students thinking about their goals while they are here at UNL and how their previous experiences help shape who they are.

What are your plans post-graduation?

I plan on either applying to veterinarian school or returning home to my family’s operation.

What's life like outside of school?

I enjoy going to cattle shows, spending time with family and friends, and playing with my dogs and cows when I am back home.

What scholarships, if any, have you received?

I have received the David Distinguished Scholarship, Horatio Alger, Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Scholarship, and various University scholarships.
