Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

The tight-knit community feeling of East Campus with access to the amenities that downtown and City Campus have to offer sealed the deal for me. I decided to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in my junior year of high school. I had been on campus during State FFA convention and knew I enjoyed the feeling of East Campus and how technologically advanced everything was. After touring and getting to experience that feeling and learn about the numerous opportunities offered it solidified my choice to go to college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

What is your favorite thing about the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

For me, it's all about the people. First, the professors and staff of the university are very progressive and work tirelessly to create career-ready students. I love how they have challenged me in ways I didn't think were possible. Occupied with that, I have met some of my best friends in college. Getting connected with students who are passionate about agriculture and personal growth have helped me be the best version of myself and pushed me to never settle for mediocrity.

How has diversity and inclusive excellence played a role in your CASNR experience?

Coming from a small town in rural Nebraska I wasn't exposed to a great deal of diversity. In general, most everyone thought, dressed, and looked the same. However, the university has taught me there are so many amazing individuals from across this great state, country, and world. At Nebraska I have been constantly put in situations that have allowed me to communicate with people that grew up very different from myself and allowed amazing conversations. These conversations have helped me to have a greater understanding and gained the ability to empathetic towards everyone I meet.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

I absolutely loved my interpersonal skills class. This class taught me many real-world skills which have helped me to better communicate and interact with others. These skills will help immensely when I am working in the agricultural industry.

What are your plans post-graduation?

I have told my parents all through college, my two requirements for an occupation are directly involved in agriculture and must include working with people. I have a passion for learning about agricultural technological advancements. My dream job would be working with producers to implement technology into their operation and teaching them how to utilize it is the fullest of its potential.

What’s life like outside of school?

I enjoy staying involved on Campus and traveling. I work in the CASNR deans office giving tours to potential new students, I am a leadership mentor for a youth mentoring program on campus called NHRI Leadership Mentoring, I serve as the president of my professional agricultural fraternity, Alpha Gamma Sigma, and enjoy taking skiing trips with my friends.
