Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I decided to come to the university because of wanting to learn more in-depth concepts within the agricultural profession and to develop connections with young agriculturists.

What is your favorite thing about the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

My favorite thing about the university is the ability to create your own mark within the university. There are ample opportunities for young adults to grow in their leadership and personal strength capabilities. UNL does a great job with having organizations, research opportunities and ambassadorships to facilitate personal growth.

How has diversity and inclusive excellence played a role in your CASNR experience?

I have gotten to know more about diversity and inclusion through my involvement with NHRI Leadership Mentoring and have been able to understand different concepts through speakers and class experiences. These two words have only gotten more popular throughout my college experience. I believe that it isn’t always necessary to emphasize on the phrase “diversity and inclusion” as it should be a part of who we are so that we can focus our efforts on growing together.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

MSYM 245: Electrical Service Systems has been one of my favorite classes I’ve taken so far mainly due to the instructor and the informational and technical knowledge we gain through experiential learning in our labs.

What are your plans post-graduation?

I plan to take over management of my family’s production agriculture operation. I also might have some type of involvement with engineering as I will be a test and validation engineer this summer for my internship.

What’s life like outside of school?

When I’m not in school you can find me with my friends, at a coffee shop, or in the field. I love spending time with people that I’ve met and investing in friendships, but during the semester I also enjoy helping nearby farmers with harvest. It gives me a feeling of being home.

Jordan has received the following scholarship: Edgar Rogers and Portia A. Goke Scholarship.
