Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

When I came to college, I was still deciding between Agricultural Education and Elementary Education. UNL had great programs for either direction I would choose to go.

What is your favorite thing about attending the University of Nebraska–Lincoln?

East Campus is definitely my favorite part of the University because of its small-town atmosphere.  You can't walk across campus without seeing a friendly smile...or five!  It's amazing how small the campus has become as I've spent more time here due to the number of people I've been in organizations and classes with.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

My Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication (ALEC) courses have been my favorite.  I have the privilege of taking them with other agricultural education majors that are my age, so we've been on the same track for the majority of our schooling.  I have also grown close with some of my agricultural education professors, through taking classes with them and through working as an ALEC department student worker for the past year.  We've become a close-knit family and it makes the courses and program in general extremely enjoyable to be a part of.

What are your plans post-graduation?

After graduation, I would love to move to a small town in rural Nebraska to become a high school agriculture teacher and FFA advisor.  If that opportunity does not arise, I'd love to become active in another youth development program, such as 4-H or a Christian youth group.

What's life like outside of school?

I stay very busy with extracurricular activities!  I am the treasurer for UNL's Agricultural Education Club.  I am the rush chair for my agricultural sorority, Sigma Alpha.  I do my best to attend Newman Center events, such as FOCUS Greek, when they do not interfere with my night classes.  I am a TeamMates mentor for a 6th-grade girl in Lincoln.  I am also currently participating in the Ashland-Greenwood FFA's chapter officer mentoring program.  I also really enjoy attending Husker volleyball games whenever possible!
