Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I came to UNL because of my love for agriculture. East Campus has served as a place I can call home and as a place where I am able to learn more about my passion from some of the best.

What is your favorite thing about the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

My favorite thing about UNL is the friendships and relationships that I have made from different activities the university has to offer. Because of Greek life, ag clubs and the residential life on East Campus, I Have met the people that will be some of my life-long friends.

What about diversity and inclusion is important to you when you think about your CASNR experience?

When it comes to diversity and inclusion within CASNR I immediately think about myself. Ag-related jobs have always been a male dominated field. However, as I went through recruitment, I started to form genuine and real connections with women that I aspire to be like one day. I learned that you cannot judge a book by its cover, or in my case, a stereotype. This is especially true when you come to college. You never know what kind of connections you are going to make and with who.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

My favorite class that I have taken thus far is ASCI 100 and the lab that goes with it. The class goes into the fundamentals of animal science and livestock. The lab lets you work hands-on with animals and is in the Animal Science Complex. It is also taught by Bryan Reiling who quickly became my favorite professor because of his passion or agriculture and his passion for teaching students.

What are your plans post-graduation?

Post-graduation, I plan to become big within the livestock industry, specifically beef production. I do not have a set job in mind as of right now. However, I am open to any opportunity thrown my way as long as it involves livestock. I also plan on living on a farm or ranch with a family of my own someday.

What’s life like outside of school?

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. Being connected with my faith, I try to live life to the fullest and be the best person I can be for myself and others, no matter what activity I am taking part in.
