Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

UNL is a great university that does cutting-edge research and I decided to get my doctorate here since I was already familiar with the outstanding faculty after completing a research internship here during my undergraduate studies.

What is your favorite thing about University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

The close contact you have as a graduate student with the faculty goes a long way in fostering a productive environment for research.

How has diversity and inclusive excellence played a role in your CASNR experience?

As a part of CASNR, I have only had good experiences so far. I feel respected and welcomed by the Nebraskan community.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

There were many good classes I have taken thus far, but my favorite has to be PTPT 892 with Dr. Everhart. This class primarily focuses on educating graduate students about how to be successful in science but also, what to expect after graduation and how to take care of yourself during your graduate studies.

What are your plans post-graduation?

After completing my doctorate, I would like to work at a university in Germany. Ideally, I would like to teach and conduct research at the same time.

What’s life like outside of school?

There is none. Jokes aside, I do enjoy socializing with friends and being active in my free time. Additionally, I have many hobbies such as playing piano, sketching, singing and hiking.

Michael has received the following scholarship: Milton E. Mohr Fellowship (2021-2022).
