Hometown: Dubuque, Iowa
Major: Food Science and Technology
Anticipated Date of Graduation: May 2016
Why did you decide to do your graduate studies at UNL?
My background is in chemistry, and as I was looking into grad school, I found the applications of food science to be very interesting. I attended a food science conference where I learned about food allergy research within the field of food science and met my current advisors. I have a food allergy myself, so UNL was the best place for me to combine my interests.
What is your favorite thing about UNL?
Spring on East Campus; the lilac collection is beautiful.
What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?
All of them! I’ve enjoyed exploring the many disciplines that apply to food science.
What are your plans post-graduation?
I will be moving to Carroll, Iowa.
What's life like outside of school?
I enjoy jogging on the great trails in Lincoln with my husband and singing in a choir.
