Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I have always dreamed of being a Husker. I really enjoyed the campus and CASNR offers a great program of study for me.

What is your favorite thing about the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

My favorite part of UNL is the community. The fact that I can go anywhere on campus and find someone I know or meet someone new is great! I have met so many supportive, friendly people since starting college in August 2021. There’s no doubt that UNL students are the best students.

What about diversity and inclusion is important to you when you think about your CASNR experience?

Compared to my high school, there is a lot of diversity here on campus. I appreciate the ability to meet and interact with foreign students that share their different experiences with me. I also appreciate that even though there are age gaps across students and classes, everyone works well together despite the age difference.

Exposure to cultural differences is a huge part of college. What activity have you recently participated in that is different from what you are used to in your culture? This could be something you read, listened to, watched, eaten, or otherwise taken part in. What did you learn from this activity?

Taking the SCIL 101: Science and Decision-Making for a Complex World class showed me a lot of stuff that I didn’t know or care about before college. We went over social science issues that I had never been concerned with. Learning about these issues showed me that there is plenty of stuff that happens in the world that should be concerning. Learning about these things has taught me to think more concisely about how I act in my daily life.

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

My favorite class that I have taken so far at UNL would have to be the Engler 275 class through the Engler Program. This class teaches basic skills of starting a business through a “trial by fire” experience of jumping right into starting a business. The program provides $50 to each business to get started and the rest is up to you. I really enjoy this class because it’s a hands-on experience that teaches me a ton because I learn really well by actually doing things myself. It also allows me to take things at my own pace, which is nice with my busy schedule.

What are your plans post-graduation?

I plan to pursue agriculture sales. I have always had a knack for sales, and I really enjoy building relationships. These skills and my love for agriculture make a career in agriculture sales a perfect option for me to pursue. I believe that my purpose is to provide people with the necessary resources to reach their maximum potential. Through sales I can fulfill this purpose by doing just that - selling and providing people with what they need to succeed.

What's life like outside of school?

My life outside of school is filled with work and spending time with friends. I currently work at Campus Recreation as a strength training and conditioning lead supervisor. This job keeps me busy organizing schedules, holding employees accountable, attending meetings, performing basic facility management and being a liaison between employees and pro staff. I also spend plenty of time with my friends watching movies, playing games, going out to eat, working out and just hanging out. I enjoy my free time from school because I can get caught up on things I need to do, sleep and just relax.
