Why did you decide to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

I always wanted to spread my wings in college, while still staying close enough to home to visit on some weekends. The University of Nebraska felt like home, and I was excited to be able to pursue a career in agriculture as well!

What is your favorite thing about the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

My favorite thing about UNL is the amazing opportunity it gives me to meet people from so many different backgrounds! East Campus also has such a great sense of community.

What about diversity and inclusion is important to you when you think about your CASNR experience?

Diversity within CASNR provides different perspectives and creative ideas. Including people from all backgrounds can create a welcoming environment and provide a more positive college experience for everyone.

Exposure to cultural differences is a huge part of college. What activity have you recently participated in that is different from what you are used to in your culture? This could be something you read, listened to, watched, eaten, or otherwise taken part in. What did you learn from this activity?

I am currently taking a multicultural education class, and I have learned so much about other religions, sexual orientations, and different cultures from my own. We recently discussed the religion of Islam, and I was able to learn about Ramadan and other ways for Muslims practice their faith!

What is your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

My favorite class that I have taken so far is Agribusiness Entrepreneurship in Food Marketing with Dr. Kate Brooks. This class outlines different ways food is produced, marketed and processed to get from farm to table. Dr. Brooks brings in guest speakers, like Ann Marie Bosshamer, to talk about real world applications to the content we are learning in the class.

What are your plans post-graduation?

I plan to enter the workforce, either as an ag teacher and FFA advisor, or in Extension. I would also love to travel the United States and the world!

What's life like outside of school?

I am involved in the Navigators campus ministry where I am in an amazing community where I can grow in my relationship with God. I love spending time with friends and family and meeting new people. You will find me at the East Campus Rec Center working out most days!
