CASNR summer 2020 internships and experiential learning

UNL East Campus
May 11, 2020

Dear CASNR Students,

We know that many of you worked hard to secure internships and experiential learning opportunities for summer 2020, and how important these experiences are for you and your education. However, we also need to think about your safety given the challenges being faced with COVID-19.

The NU System and UNL have updated the Student COVID-19 site with new information about internships/experiential education.  We encourage you to review the updated information: https://covid19.unl.edu/students#internships-experiential-learning

 Some key considerations:

  • UNL is encouraging students to connect with their internship/experiential learning provider to explore virtual options for completing summer 2020 experiences.
  • If students in credit bearing internship/experiential learning courses choose to engage with an in-person experience, the student is assuming the risk associated with that choice.
  • UNL is continuing to offer internship and experiential learning courses for the summer so students can continue to meet degree requirements and make degree progress.
  • Students choosing to engage in face-to-face experiences should work with their internship/experiential learning provider to follow local, state and CDC health official guidelines – which change rapidly.

If you’d like to talk with someone about how to connect with your internship or experiential learning provider, please email Julie Obermeyer at jobermeyer@unl.edu. If you have questions about how this could impact a credit bearing experience, please contact the instructor of record for the course in which you’ve enrolled and will earn credit. You are also encouraged to contact your academic adviser to explore alternative options to in-person internships/experiential learning to meet degree requirements.
